What Web Browser Do You Use and Why?

2009 January 6

Today I want to ask a simple question: What web browser do you use and why do you use it?

Me?

For the longest time I used Internet Explorer just because that’s what was there. At work, virtually all of the computers only had IE installed and most of them had version 6.X. When a computer came in having IE 7, tabbed browsing was introduced to my workspace. I know, Opera has been using tabbed browsing for years but now IE had it and it was more noticed.

When I began using Fire Fox at home, I was delightfully surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Not only did Fire Fox have tabbed browsing, but it was also amazingly more stable than IE (one of the reasons I tried it was because of IE’s instability).

Now, I emphatically use Fire Fox and I’d rather not think about switching back to IE (I still use it sometimes to test compatibility of websites, etc.).

Simple answer: Firefox because of its stability compared to IE and its many features and available add-ons, etc.

OK, what do YOU use and why? Feel free to disagree with me OR other commenters (as long as you are gracious about it). AND if you have any more tips, tricks, or suggestions, let me know!

NOTE: This is the first of several more posts about browsers I’m going to write.
